- Why did you choose MU?
The main reason was it gave me the opportunity to pursue both Engineering and collegiate soccer. I wanted to go somewhere with small class sizes, warm weather, and a welcoming community. Methodist checked all my boxes. - You tutor math and are a member of the Math Club, can you tell us why you enjoy math so much?
I enjoy the logic behind mathematics as well as the satisfaction I feel when solving a complex problem. My brain is geared towards analytical thinking, and critically thinking through a math problem scratches that itch. Majoring in Math along with my major in Engineering has helped to explain shared concepts in a new light that gives me a deeper understanding. - What kind of things does a Math Club do?
Math Club allows those in the Methodist University community who enjoy mathematics to connect with one another through events such as movie nights and competing in competitions like the Putnam exam. The Math Club also gives students the opportunity to attend the MAA conference where math applications can be seen in the real world and our program can connect with other universities. - You’re also a member of the Engineering Club, can you describe what you do in that organization?
Engineering Club hosts fun activities such as building bridges out of spaghetti and bad design competitions. Our aim is to connect the Engineering Department with the rest of the Methodist Community. - What do you do to relax?
In my free time, I enjoy playing with my hedgehog Pangello, kicking around the soccer ball, playing Spikeball, and hammocking. - What’s it like playing on the MU soccer team?
Playing on the Methodist Women’s Soccer team has truly been a highlight of my time at Methodist. Between my amazing teammates, coaches, and everyone else who has supported us along the way, it has been an incredible community that I am lucky to be a part of. Soccer is one of my greatest passions and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to make it a part of my college experience. - Is MU a good place to be a student-athlete?
MU is a great place to be a student-athlete. Balancing academics and athletics can be difficult, but Methodist recognizes that both are a priority and allows students the time, space, and support to excel in the classroom and on the field. - As an engineer, what is one thing you’d like to make better?
One out of 13 NCAA female athletes and one out of 26 NCAA male athletes tear their ACL’s every season. In other words, far too many athletes are taken out by this injury. As someone who has torn their ACL three times, it is my goal to solve this problem and prevent ACL tears. - What’s your favorite food in the newly-renovated Green & Gold Dining Hall?
Anything from the Hibachi Station is my favorite. - Not really a question, but tell us about one thing you just love about MU.
One thing I love about Methodist is the opportunity to explore different fields. While my main focus academically has been in engineering, I have also learned percussion from a very knowledgeable music professor, as well as participated in a sport psychology research project. Expanding my horizons has not only made me a well-rounded student, but it has taught me how to remain open-minded and find delight outside of my comfort zone.
