Methodist University welcomed more than a hundred local high school students to its campus for a day of inspiration, empowerment, and education.
The Fayetteville Youth Summit was hosted on Methodist University’s expansive 600-acre campus on Wednesday, encouraging sophomore, junior, and senior high school students from the greater Fayetteville region to consider their future and begin shaping their careers.
The event featured engaging guest speakers, interactive sessions, and opportunities for students to connect with several key leaders in the region. The Fayetteville Youth Summit was hosted by the Tulsa Initiative.
“Hosting the Fayetteville Youth Summit at Methodist University provided us an invaluable opportunity to empower the next generation by offering them access to higher education resources and fostering community engagement,” said Qu’Derrick Covington, founder and executive director of Tulsa Initiative. “By bringing together young minds in a supportive environment, we can inspire innovation, collaboration, and leadership – laying the groundwork for a brighter future for our youth and our community.”
Multiple Methodist University staff and faculty held key speaking roles at the event including Dave Eavenson (Vice President and Director of Athletics), Dr. Quincy Malloy (Chief Diversity Officer), and Mareion “TJ” Gill (Residential Area Coordinator).
