Dear Members of the Methodist University Community,
Methodist University has locked in two on-campus vaccination clinics within the next month. These free clinics are available only to MU students, faculty, and staff.
To help facilitate getting our community to “Vax to the Max,” we will host our first vaccination clinic on Aug. 26 and a second clinic on Sept. 16. Both clinics will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Berns Student Center.
There is no fee to get vaccinated at these clinics and you will receive a $25 gift card to a local restaurant/business on the spot. All you need to bring is an MU or other personal form of identification. Other Monarchs who loaded their cards by the Aug. 1 deadline can pick up their gift cards on the 26th, as well (students in the Student Accounts Office and faculty/staff in Human Resources).
We are offering the vaccinations clinics in keeping with our continuing commitment to take every precaution possible to keep our community safe from COVID-19 — and to strive to get as many Monarchs vaccinated as possible for the protection of all.
Both the Johnson & Johnson (one shot) and Pfizer (two shots) vaccines will be available. If you receive the J&J vaccination, you are immediately cleared from your weekly COVID-19 testing (unless you are showing symptoms). If you receive the two-shot Pfizer dose on Aug. 26, you will still need to test weekly, but may get the second dose on Sept. 16. If you received your first Pfizer shot on Sept. 16, you will still get your $25 gift card, but would need to secure another location for your second shot.
Dr. Jennifer Green, director of the Cumberland County Department of Public Health, was on our campus last week and spoke about the current surge in COVID-19 cases in our county due to the very contagious Delta variant. We are in an area of high COVID transmission, and Dr. Green said we must take action — we must Vax to the Max — to protect ourselves and those around us.
