The Methodist University Department of Theatre will present “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” on the stage of Huff Concert Hall Nov. 12-14 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.
Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students/seniors/military, and $4 for children. Because the production contains language some may find offensive, the production is not recommended for children.
Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, this production of the classic novella by Robert Louis Stevenson features most of the major characters telling the story from their points of view. Henry Jekyll experiments with isolating the human impulse toward evil, which inadvertently unleashes Edward Hyde, the very embodiment of evil.
“To show the pervasiveness of evil, this adaptation splits Hyde into multiple roles, so that anyone at any time may step into the shoes of the villain,” said Theatre Chair Evan Bridenstine.
The cast includes Brandon Torres as Dr. Henry Jekyll, Will Billingsley as Gabriel Utterson, Darien Jones as Sir Danvers Carew, Taj Allen as Dr. H.K. Lanyon, Erin Arauz as Poole, Samantha Hill as Elizabeth Jelks, and Kristee Emmons and Dain Thomas as orderlies.
