Black History Month is more than an annual observance, but rather, a dedicated recognition and celebration of achievements, contributions, and history of African Americans in U.S. history. It is one of many reasons why Methodist University proudly celebrates Black History Month during the month of February.
Black History Month is more than an annual observance, but rather, a dedicated recognition and celebration of achievements, contributions, and history of Black Americans in U.S. history. It is one of many reasons why Methodist University proudly celebrates Black History Month during the month of February.
Not only has Methodist University been ranked the No. 1 most diverse universities in North Carolina (2021-22 and 2022-23), but MU also has a Student Belonging & Inclusion team and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office to ensure diversity is integrated into the fabric of everyday life on campus.
Methodist University celebrates different cultures throughout the year and in February, it will observe Black History Month through a series of events on campus – giving students, faculty, staff, and alumni an opportunity to reflect on the struggles and triumphs of Black Americans throughout history.
To honor Black History Month, Methodist University will offer the following free events in February (the best way to stay up to date on all events is through the Events Calendar):

- 13: Black History Month Black Love Movie Night (7 p.m., Hendricks 122): This relaxing night will showcase a film that celebrates black love (Poetic Justice)
