For Chandler Burgoyne ’23, a flexible education was necessary if she was going to pursue a master’s degree while working full time. Fortunately, Methodist University’s online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program has been the perfect fit.

Burgoyne found her second home at MU, originally graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and minors in Accounting, International Business, and Psychology in 2023.

“After graduation, I was still trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to Chandler Burgoynedo,” Burgoyne said. “I realized that if I was going to enter the business world, an MBA made a lot of sense. When I realized I could continue my education at Methodist University, it was a no-brainer decision.”

By August, Burgoyne started MU’s online MBA program while accepting a full-time position as an admissions counselor at the University. While she admits the past year of juggling a full-time job and a full-time education can be difficult, she is grateful it can be done at Methodist University.

“I’ve had a great experience,” said Burgoyne, who is set to earn her master’s in December. “The classes are difficult, but the faculty is super helpful and flexible.  I’ve learned a lot, and I’m really happy with my decision to join this MBA program.”

High-Paying Careers

Burgoyne’s journey is one of many positive experiences within the Methodist University online Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. The one-year program is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSOC) while being housed in MU’s Reeves School of Business – which is internationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) – important benchmarks for top-tier MBA programs.

The online program prepares students for a wide range of leadership positions. In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median wage for management occupations is $102,450 – the highest of all major occupational groups.

“Our MBA program provides versatile and relevant skill sets that can be applied to various industries,” said O.Z. Hamzah, assistant professor of Business Administration. “MBA graduates are great candidates for positions in leadership, financial analysis, operations management, and health care.”

According to Hamzah, Methodist University’s MBA program stands out from other programs of its kind in the region in a few key areas: 1) a modern-focused curriculum, 2) caring and flexible faculty, and 3) a combination of quality and affordability.

Modern-Focused Curriculum

The program offers courses that address today’s business environment while providing the necessary skills to advance their careers. For example, many of the courses utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics to prepare students for the power business tools of today.

For Burgoyne, the program allows her to practice her skills on real-life issues in the business world.

“I’m really enjoying my class project on Boeing,” she said. “There’s a lot of time relevant issues going on with the company right now, and I’ve been able to figure out some of the issues and pose some solutions.”

Burgoyne said the program also has allowed her to develop her skills in accounting, organizational management, business policies, analysis, financial reporting, and more.

Flexibility

Since the program is 100% online, it is the perfect and affordable option for those with full-time jobs, active-duty military, veterans, parents, and more.

“The courses are designed to allow students to work at their own pace within an eight-week span for each course,” Hamzah added. “We’re flexible, so we can work with students if they’re dealing with employment, military, or personal circumstances.”

Students in the program have the opportunity to learn from eight full-time Methodist University faculty members with ranging expertise in economics, business, accounting, marketing, and ethics.

A Value Like No Other

One of the perks of an MBA at Methodist University is the affordability. At just $545 per credit hour, students are able to achieve their career goals with graduates going on to big name companies like Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts, Ralph Lauren, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, U.S. Army Audit Agency, Cape Fear Valley Hospital, and Stryker.

Although Burgoyne is still weighing her career options, she said an MBA from Methodist University will open a lot of doors for her when she graduates.

“With an MBA, you learn so many different things,” she added. “Because of that, you can do a lot with this degree. It’s one of the reasons I decided to pursue my MBA. It’s comforting to know that I’ll be able to keep my options open as I continue through my career.”
