Methodist University’s Health & Counseling Services hosted its annual “Living Well at MU: Mind, Body, and Soul” event, an experience dedicated to equipping students with essential wellness resources. From mental health support to physical well-being and sexual health education, the event aimed to empower students with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive both during their time at MU and beyond.

Event organizer Alashay Cooler, coordinator of Health & Counseling Services,  emphasized the importance of these resources, explaining, “The why is to provide resources for our students, to let them know what we have in the community. Whether it’s a counselor, [sexual assault] victim, someone seeking treatment for opioids, or even [someone] just learning how to properly use protection, that’s what this event is for.”

While Methodist University offers a variety of student support services, events like “Living Well at MU” help students navigate the transition into adulthood with confidence. “I wouldn’t say resources are lacking on campus, but this is where young adults begin their lives. This is where they learn what to do and what not to do,” Alashay added. “So, to have these resources and to learn these things can prepare them for life after graduation.”

By fostering a campus culture that prioritizes student wellness, MU continues to create an environment in which students feel supported, educated, and prepared for their future.
