For the third time in as many years, the Robert P. Holding Foundation has donated $25,000 to Methodist University. This recent, generous contribution directly supports students and initiatives in MU’s Nursing program.
MU Nursing has offered a prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program since 2010. With outstanding faculty and nurse educators, small class sizes, and a variety of clinical experiences, it’s no surprise that MU nursing graduates pass the state Registered Nurse licensing exam (NCLEX-RN) at rates well above the national average.
Since 2010, MU Nursing has responded to the state’s ongoing need for nurses, nurse educators, and nursing administrators. MU offers an online RN-to-BSN degree, an online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program, an online Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership (online), and an online Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education (CNE) program.
The Nursing program is currently developing a second Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with a concentration in Nursing Anesthesia to meet the urgent need for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) in Southeastern North Carolina. Methodist University is proud to partner with the Robert P. Holding Foundation to ensure North Carolina residents have access to essential health care and higher education opportunities.
The Robert P. Holding Foundation is named for Robert Powell Holding, Sr., who served as president and chairman of the First Citizens Bank in Smithfield, N.C. from 1935 to 1957. The Robert P. Holding Foundation was incorporated in Smithfield in 1955 and has since contributed millions of dollars to support healthcare and higher education in North Carolina’s rural and urban communities.
