Bio:
Dr. William H. Walker came to Methodist in 1997 as the Director of Residence Life. In 1999, he was promoted to the Associate Dean of Students position, where he served for twelve years. After a national search in 2011, Dr. Walker was selected to become the Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Walker is the chief student affairs officer for the university and serves on the president’s cabinet. He is responsible for all aspects of student life, including 11 departments that provide student services and co-curricular programs for student development and engagement. These services and programs range from residence life to health and counseling services to career services and public safety just to name a few.
Prior to coming to Methodist, Dr. Walker worked in student life positions at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. and Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C.
Dr. Walker received his undergraduate degree in sociology and religious studies from Elon University. He received his master’s degree in student development from Appalachian State University, and he received his Doctor of Education degree with a concentration in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University. He has presented on several student affairs topics at local, state, regional and national professional conferences and experiences.
Dr. Walker is a native of Fayetteville, N.C. He is married, and he is also the pastor of a local church.
