Bio:

Tim Carlson graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Bob Jones University in 2008. His previous careers include Vermont State Trooper and an Infantryman in the US Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment. He was medically retired in 2020 following his third combat deployment.

It was during his time in the Army that Carlson discovered the game of golf. He was hooked instantly and found every excuse to find himself on the golf course. Following his deployment in 2019, one of his therapists asked him what physical activity he wanted to be able to do. There was only one answer: golf. His therapist told him about a program he had just learned about called PGA HOPE. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a PGA HOPE program in Georgia at the time. It took several more months of physical therapy before he was allowed to start playing again, and it was in golf that he found mental and emotional respite. When faced with the need for a new career, Carlson was determined to ensure no other veteran wound find themselves without a PGA HOPE program. The Army was moving his wife Shelby to Fayetteville, N.C. in late 2020, so he looked for his options for a pathway to PGA membership in the area. A quick Google search revealed an obvious choice: Methodist University and its PGA Golf Management program.

At Methodist, Carlson was able to deep dive into his two passions: PGA HOPE and teaching the game of golf. On top of his studies, he worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Highland Country Club where he was a US Kids Golf instructor and taught individual lessons to a wide variety of players as well as men’s and ladies’ clinics. He also was the lead in the fitting and club repair operations. He also started his own coaching business, Dynamic Golf Solutions. His teaching philosophy extends beyond the physical golf swing to include mental strengthening exercises and emotional control techniques. This holistic approach combined with cutting edge technology helps each individual find the complete golfer inside them.
