Bio:
Stacia Hall Thompson, P.T., D.P.T., Ph.D., is the Physical Therapy program department chair and program director. She is an associate professor of Physical Therapy and a tenured department member. She primarily teaches Functional Neuroanatomy and Neurological Rehabilitation I and II and maintains an active clinical practice in neurological rehabilitation. Dr. Thompson’s areas of expertise include neurological, geriatric, and vestibular rehabilitation. Her certifications and most recent publications are listed below.
Dr. Thompson is active within the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), serving as a Delegate from the North Carolina Chapter of the APTA to the House of Delegates. She is active in her local community, educating community members on various aspects of physical therapy.
Dr. Thompson was awarded the Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Grant in 2019, 2021, and 2023 to continue her education efforts. Dr. Thompson received the APTA North Carolina Outstanding Physical Therapist Award in 2018 and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Elon University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in 2019. She is an active member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. Dr. Thompson received her Doctor of Physical Therapy and B.S. in Exercise Sport Science degrees from Elon University. She received her Ph.D. in Health Sciences with a concentration in Health Professions Education from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.
