Jessica (Jay) Riddell is a professional Academic and Career Advisor at Methodist University, where they provide guidance and support to students as they navigate their academic and professional journeys. They work closely with students to develop academic success strategies, select courses, and explore career opportunities to ensure they stay on track for graduation and career readiness.
Riddell brings extensive experience in academic advising, student support, and program development. Before joining Methodist University, they served as an Academic Advisor in the Computer Science Department at NC State University. In this role, they provided individualized academic planning, career guidance, and student success programming. Additionally, they founded and led the First-Generation Graduate Student Organization at N.C. State, advocating for student support initiatives and professional development opportunities tailored to first-generation undergraduate and graduate students.
Riddell holds a B.S. in Psychology from Fayetteville State University and a M.Ed. in College Counseling and Student Development from N.C. State University. They are currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education at N.C. State University, further deepening their expertise in student development, academic success strategies, and holistic advising practices.
