Bio:
Dr. Hem C. Basnet is a Professor of Financial Economics in the Reeves School of Business at Methodist University. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics, specializing in International Finance, from Southern Illinois University. Prior to his doctoral studies, he received a Master’s degree with a Finance emphasis from The City College of New York, USA. He is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), the highest credential attainable in the financial planning field.
Dr. Basnet actively teaches both graduate and undergraduate level Economics and Finance courses. He also served as the Chair of the Department of Financial Economics at Methodist University for five years. His research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including Financial Planning and Retirement, Consumer Finance, International Finance, Time Series Analysis, and Open Economy Macroeconomics. His research has been published in some of the leading Financial Economics journals such as World Development, Journal of Economics and Finance, Applied Economics, and The North American Journal of Economics and Finance, among others. His work has also been widely cited within the academic community (Google Scholar).
