Bio:
In 2014, Gignac moved to Fayetteville to become the founding program director for the emergency medicine residency program at UNC Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. In 2021 she transitioned to the dual role of Chair of Emergency Medicine and Chair of Simulation and Clinical Education at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Under her leadership as Chair of Simulation, the CUSOM Simulation Center achieved accreditation by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, began a mobile simulation program, received a $75,000 grant from the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners, and held numerous community outreach events. Throughout her time as Chair of Emergency Medicine, her student advisees achieved a match rate of 100% in the National Resident Matching Program. In 2024, she was awarded “Clinical Faculty of the Year” by the CUSOM Class of 2024.
In addition to her commitment to medical education and simulation, Gignac enjoys research in population health, clinical skills & simulation, and emergency medicine. She continues to work as an emergency physician at Cape Fear Valley Health where she precepts medical students and residents while caring for her community. Dr. Gignac earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University.
