Bio:

Carrie Elzie earned her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Pathology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a M.A. in Organizational Leadership and Learning from George Washington University. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship as a scientist/medical educator at Vanderbilt University in Cell Biology and Gross Anatomy. Carrie is currently a Professor of Foundational Sciences and Director of Faculty Development. She has been involved in directing and teaching courses in gross anatomy, embryology, histology, and pathology to medical, dental, optometry, health professional, and graduate students. Throughout her career she has won numerous teaching awards, received several grants incorporating technology and medical imaging into curricula and presented her work at national and international meetings. Her key areas of scholarship include humanism, gamification, and active learning techniques.
