Bio:

Karpman joins the Methodist PTM Program and the Monarch Tennis Coaching Staff after spending three years as a consultant for the PPR in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Previously, he was the Director Adult Tennis at Providence Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Brett will assist the Men’s and Women’s Tennis Programs as an assistant coach and will also serve as a coordinator and part-time faculty for the PTM program. His primary focus will be on the recruiting efforts for all three programs.

During his eight year tenure, Karpman developed both the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Queens University of Charlotte into nationally recognized programs. During his last season, the Royals Men’s Team reached a national ranking of #29 in the NCAA Division II rankings while the women finished at No. 28 on the Intercollegiate Tennis Associations poll.

Karpman led the Royals women’s team to a perfect 17-0 regular season in 2010 to earn an NCAA appearance. The women would again make their way to the NCAA tournament in 2015. For the men, Karpman’s leadership found Queens its first ever Men’s Conference Carolinas Championship in 2011 and NCAA appearance. His programs have established new records for the highest winning percentage for each squad with the women at .910 and the men at .833.

Under Karpman both teams flourished on and off the court as his squads had a combined 189-104 record over the course of his tenure. Karpman produced 35 all-conference selections as well as freshmen of the year and player of the year honors along with numerous post season awards. Karpman was also been selected as coach of the year in consecutive seasons (2009-2010 and 2010-2011), an honor voted upon by his peers. Additionally, he was named the Southeast Region’s Wilson/ITA Men’s Coach of the Year in his last season.

The program’s success off the court is manifested through many volunteer opportunities including the Ronald McDonald House and various other organizations in charlotte. His teams have earned the awards for the athletic program with the highest student athlete GPAs over the past eight consecutive years. Five members of the tennis team have been awarded the ITA’s prestigious Arthur Ashe Leadership Award in the last six years. Only eight are given out every year.

A native of Montreal, Canada, Karpman works as a strength and conditioning consultant for Elite International and American juniors. He previously worked with The University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) as an assistant coach for the Seahawks tennis team, leading the team to their first win over a nationally-ranked team since the program’s inception. There, he helped recruit players from around the nation for the UNCW men’s tennis team, while helping the Seahawks compile their best season in the University’s history (14-6 in the CAA). Prior to this position, Karpman worked with Adidas Inc. as the coordinator of its tennis camps.

Karpman received a bachelor’s of science degree from Queens in 2006. He is certified by the PTR and USPTA as a Level Two Tennis Professional and the PPR as a Pickleball Teaching Professional.
