Academic/Merit Scholarships
Wright Scholars Program
The Wright Scholars Program is a distinguished merit scholarship program for students who demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership qualities, commitment to community service and good citizenship. Five full tuition scholarships which cover full-time day tuition will be offered each year to members of the incoming freshman class. Minimum qualifications include a 3.70 or higher high school GPA and an 1160 or higher new SAT score (24 or higher ACT Composite, 1100 or higher combined Critical Reading and Math on the old SAT). Financial need may also be taken into consideration. The Wright Scholarship replaces any other funding that has previously been offered from Methodist University funds. An appropriate number of finalists and semi-finalists are selected from the application pool. These students receive an Academic Achievement offer which ranges from $500 per year up to $2,000 per year and is offered in combination with other academic or need-based aid previously offered.
Scholarship applications will be mailed in February to accepted students who meet the minimum qualifications, and there is a March 1st deadline to be considered for this prestigious scholarship. This scholarship is funded by a $5 million gift made to the University by Dr. Harvey T. Wright II (MU class of 1970) and his wife, Mary Fermanides Wright (MU class of 1968).
