Nursing Program Overview
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Methodist University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202.887.6791. See our Accreditation page for information on Methodist University’s regional accreditation.
Students are accepted to the University as Pre-Nursing majors and complete general education and pre-nursing core classes. A supplemental application is submitted for consideration to be admitted to the Nursing Program. One new cohort is accepted each fall semester.
Students graduate with competencies in providing patient-centered care, working within interdisciplinary teams, employing evidence-based practice, applying quality improvement, utilizing informatics, and functioning in an environment of integrated processes within a global society. Students who successfully complete all requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Most of our graduates apply for initial RN licensure through the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) but students may choose to become licensed in another state.
