The Content Creation minor within the Communication & Media program is designed to give students majoring in any discipline media development skills for content such as videos, social media, podcasts, feature writing, blogs, and online publications while also understanding the societal impact of contemporary media practices. Students can choose between three content creation tracks: audiovisual production, web production, or text production.

Students have access to professional equipment and software to assist in their content development skills, such as video cameras, photography cameras, a video studio, audio recording and mixing booths, and Adobe Creative Cloud.

The Content Creation minor adds value to any career path. Some of the top jobs for those with a background in content creation include social media manager, digital marketer, content manager, copywriter, producer, SEO strategist, and more.

There’s a long list of career opportunities for those with a content creation background. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the average annual salary for the following positions (which may require additional education) in North Carolina in 2023:

  • News Analyst and Journalist: $64,200
