Methodist University offers Presidential Scholarships to entering international students who meet admissions criteria. This scholarship program is applicable only to students enrolled full-time (twelve semester hours or more) in the regular academic (day) program. Renewal of the scholarship cannot be extended beyond the eighth (8th) semester of college level work, and is based upon maintaining a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and Satisfactory Academic Progress at Methodist University.
Presidential Scholarships: Residential Freshmen (Fall 2017 - Spring 2018)
Presidential scholarship for international residential (on-campus housing) students ranges from $14,500 to $26,000 and is awarded based on the combination of GPA at the previous academic institution and standardized test results. Minimum required GPA is 3.1 and minimum standardized test results are 6.5 IELTs, 72 Internet Based TOEFL, 21 ACT, or 1090 new SAT.
Presidential Scholarships: Commuting Freshmen (Fall 2017 - Spring 2018)
Presidential scholarship for international commuting students (off-campus housing) ranges from $9,750 to $18,500 and is awarded based on the combination of grade point average at the previous academic institution and standardized test results. Minimum required GPA is 3.1 and minimum standardized test results are 6.5 IELTs, 72 Internet Based TOEFL, 21 ACT, or 1090 new SAT.
Methodist University Transfer Presidential Scholarship (Fall 2017 - Spring 2018)
International students transferring from other accredited institutions who have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or better (on a four point scale) on thirty-one (31) semester hours or more of college level work at the previous institution(s) will be awarded a transfer Presidential Scholarship. Renewal of transfer Presidential Scholarships is determined at the end of a two semester period and is contingent on the student making Satisfactory Academic Progress. Students seeking re-admission to Methodist University are ineligible to be considered for this scholarship.
Residential Transfer Presidential Scholarship
Scholarship awards range from $15,000 to $19,500 and are based on the academic record at the previous institution.
Methodist University is pleased to offer a Presidential Scholarship of $68,000 for Bahamian students. The scholarship is valued as $17,000 per year for four academic years. Other scholarship options are available (from $500 up to $2,000) at http://www.gbhem.org.
Commuting Transfer Presidential Scholarship
Scholarship awards range from $10,000 to $13,000 and are based on the academic record at the previous institution.
Note: The number of transferable credits can be determined after submission of original official transcript(s) to Registrar's Office for evaluation. Transfer students must have all transcripts evaluated and translated into English before a transfer credit decision can be made. The applicant is responsible for the timely translation and evaluation of documents and for all costs and fees associated with these services. Suggested evaluation services are World Education Services, Inc. or Josef Silny & Associates, Inc.
METHODIST UNIVERSITY MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
Methodist University awards Merit Scholarships to international residential freshmen with a 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher cumulative weighted high school GPA and SAT/ACT scores of 980+ (new SAT) or *900+ (old SAT) or *19+ (ACT) who also demonstrate leadership abilities through involvement in extracurricular activities throughout their high school years. The Merit Scholarship ranges from $10,500 - $13,500 per year and is awarded at the time a student applies to the college at the discretion of the International Programs. The Merit Scholarship for commuter students ranges from $8,750 - $11,500 per year. Minimum of 66 points on TOEFL (computer based) and 6 on IELTS is required.
Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA on all course work attempted at Methodist University, continue enrollment as a full-time (12 s.h. or more each semester) and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress in order to retain this scholarship. Should the residency status of the student change, the scholarship award will be revised.
*Old SAT scores are combined critical reading and math scores. ACT writing score is not included in composite.
