Methodist University Announces 54th Annual Spring Commencement

Methodist University will celebrate its 54th annual Spring Commencement Ceremony Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the March F. Riddle Center. There are currently 285 candidates for graduation.

James Daniel “Danny” Highsmith, Sr., regional vice president and market manager at Beasley Broadcast Group in Fayetteville, will deliver the commencement address. The University will present the University Medallion to Mrs. Naoma W. and Dr. Gerald Ellison, longtime supporters of Methodist University.

Methodist University Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program First of Its Kind in North Carolina

Methodist University’s second doctoral program Occupational Therapy is the first doctorate-level Occupational Therapy program in North Carolina.

The program recently received regional accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) on March 24, and is currently pending accreditation by the Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).

Classes for this program are expected to begin in Fall 2018.

Senior Exhibition, “UNTITLED No. 5,” Opens April 21

Methodist University will host the spring 2017 senior art exhibition, “UNTITLED No. 5,” from April 21 to 28 in the David McCune International Art Gallery. There will be an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 21. This event is free and open to the public.

The art show will feature the work of students Walter Barnett, Stephen Carroll, Deniel Cestero, Emily Brooke Highsmith, and Javahn Tyson.
