The Methodist University Department of Public Safety has partnered with the Clery Center to host a Clery Act Training Seminar (CATS). This training was designed by a multidisciplinary team of experts and practitioners in the fields of campus law enforcement and student affairs. The curriculum was fully revised in 2015 and 2016 to address participant suggestions, compliance challenges, and new concepts such as:

The updated Handbook for Campus Safety and Security Reporting (guidance from theDepartment of Education on how they interpret the regulations)

  • Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) amendments to the Clery Act
  • Interactive features
  • Audience participation via polling technology
  • Case study examples + group activities
  • In-depth exploration of the intersections between the Clery Act + Title IX

Clery Center training emphasizes the use of Clery Compliance Teams that incorporate those working in:

  • Campus Public Safety and Compliance
  • Administration
  • Counseling
  • Student Conduct and Judicial Affairs
  • Risk Management
  • Legal Counsel
