Welcome to the Communication Department!

On behalf of our faculty, staff, and students, I sincerely hope that our program of study can help you achieve your professional goals.

Mass Communications is a huge part of our lives and it plays an increasingly important role in the development of our society and our world. Think about it. How many media messages have you experienced today, not including this one? How much money do you spend on communications technology? Before you answer this, remember that communication technology includes radio, television, video games, Internet, smartphone, social networking, and anything that allows you to send and receive information. Now consider that most of these technologies didn't exist twenty years ago, or those that did were significantly different. What will the future hold? We don't know, to be honest with you, but we are preparing for it.

Our program teaches students to be educated consumers of the mass media as well as participants in its future. Students not only leave our school with a degree, but hopefully with a generous portfolio of professional work that can be instrumental in getting that critical first job. Our faculty have worked in the communications business. We know how the field works and are prepared to guide you through the process of entering it.

In this section of our site you will find descriptions of who we are and what we can offer. Our hope is that you will be interested in dropping by for a visit and seeing for yourself what makes the Methodist University Communications Department so special. Before you go, don't forget to take a look at some of our student work. We are proud of what our people have been able to accomplish, and we believe that you can do this too.
