April 26, 2013 Sport Management Adds Major to Concentration, Minor Methodist University students interested in a career in sports now have expanded options through the Sport Management Program. The program will add a major to its existing minor and concentration options starting in Fall 2013. The program is adding a number of additional courses and elective opportunities that will be available as part of the new major. Click Here for the new major requirements.
April 19, 2013 Kirchner Named Professor of the Year; Outstanding Students Honored at Annual University Awards Convocation A number of Reeves School of Business faculty and students were recognized for outstanding performance at the 2013 University Awards Convocation on Wednesday. Among them was Professor of Accounting, Dr. Mary Kirchner, named Distinguished Professor of the Year for 2013.
April 18, 2013 Delta Mu Delta Inducts New Members The Reeves School of Business faculty extends congratulations to the newest members of Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business. Delta Mu Delta has a two-fold mission: to promote higher scholarship in training for business and to recognize and reward business administration students who have distinguished themselves scholastically.
April 11, 2013 Strickland Named State's Top Accounting Educator Dr. Pam Strickland, Professor of Accounting in the Reeves School of Business, has been honored with the Outstanding Educator Award by the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. In winning the state award, Strickland becomes eligible for the national honor given by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
April 1, 2013 Annual Student Luncheon Will Feature Rajan Shamdasani The 2013 Charles M. Reeves Student Luncheon Honoring Entrepreneurship will feature Rajan Shamdasani, “serial entrepreneur” and President of American Uniform Supply. Mr. Shamdasani has been a longtime friend of the Reeves School of Business and its Center for Entrepreneurship.
March 11, 2013 Dr. Jason Williams Announced as 2013 Lowdermilk Ethics Speaker Since 1995, the Reeves School of Business has hosted an annual lecture and discussion in the area of business ethics in conjunction with the announcement of the Lowdermilk Student Achievement Awards. Over the years, corporate leaders, elected officials, and legal experts have joined RSB students, faculty, and the community in discussing ethical issues of the times. Recent focus on healthcare, both nationally, and at Methodist University in the form of the new School of Health Sciences, makes this year’s speaker an especially relevant choice.
March 5, 2013 University Approves New Minor in International Business The Reeves School of Business is happy to announce that a new minor in International Business has been approved beginning Fall 2013. This program, open to all Methodist University students, seeks to prepare students for professional success in the global workplace. As more industries begin to rely on a multinational workforce and participate in international markets, an understanding of global issues is becoming paramount for management level employees in all fields.
February 19, 2013 Delta Mu Delta Extends Invitations to Membership The Reeves School of Business congratulates the 21 students who have earned an invitation to membership in Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business. Invitations are extended to undergraduate and graduate students who are in the top 20% of their class and maintain at least 3.25 GPA in all course work.
February 13, 2013 Titleist/FootJoy VP to Speak to RSB Students Peter Broome, a Vice President at Acushnet, the parent company of the iconic Titleist and Footjoy brands, will speak on campus February 19th and 20th. Broome will be addressing the topic of consumer behavior in today's marketplace. He will also be joined by Methodist University Alumnus, Cameron Weibe, the evening of Feb. 19 for a PGA Golf Management seminar on career development
January 23, 2013 CFE Director to Participate on Military Employment Panel Professor Marty Cayton, the Director of the Methodist University Center for Entrepreneurship, has accepted an invitation to participate in a panel discussion entitled: Life After the Military: Transitioning Soldiers and Their Families from the Military to the Civilian Workforce, presented by the Fayetteville Regional Chamber and the Army Career and Alumni Program, February 7.
January 10, 2013 Fortune 500 Executive to Open 2013 Speaker Series Lorraine Peoples, Vice President, IT Performance Management at the Estee Lauder Companies, will kick off the 2013 RSB Executive Speaker Series Monday, January 14, with presentations at 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM. The 11:00 session will focus on international business and the 3:30 session will be a discussion of the topic, “Women as Leaders”. Both events are open to the public.
December 15, 2012 Congratulations to Winter 2012 Graduates The Faculty and staff of the Reeves School of Business join in congratulating the students receiving their degrees at Methodist University’s 40th Winter Commencement. The Reeves School of Business conferred 98 degrees, including 14 Master of Business Administration, 7 Bachelor of Arts, and 77 Bachelor of Science.
December 12,2012 PGA Golf Management Facility Named Top 50 The Methodist University PGA Golf Management golf learning facility has been named one of the Top 50 Private Golf Ranges in America by the Golf Range Association of America. The facility includes a 55 station practice tee, all-weather teaching center, and 20,000 square feet of putting and chipping greens. The on campus center is reserved for exclusive use by PGA Golf Management students and current members of the MU golf teams.
December 6, 2012 First International Business Studies Graduate Recognized Brittany Campbell, who will graduate next week from the Master of Business Administration program, is the first student to complete the requirements for the International Business Studies Certificate. Brittany also completed her undergraduate study in the Reeves School of Business, during which she qualified for the International Business Studies Certificate by participating in a study abroad course. Brittany has also earned the privilege to wear the International Business Studies honor cord during Commencement exercises. November 26 ,2012 Delta Mu Delta Welcomes New Members, Recognizes National Advisor of the Year The Eta Sigma Chapter of Delta Mu Delta International Business Honor Society inducted nineteen new at their Autumn Induction Ceremony. Reeves School of Business faculty and Staff, members of the Society, family, and friends joined in celebration of the new initiates’ significant academic accomplishments. Dr. Mitch Javidi, NC State University professor and President and CEO of The International Academy of Public Safety, delivered the address and was initiated as an Honorary Member of the Society.
November 9 ,2012 Methodist University Celebrates Contributions of MBA Director The Reeves School of Business and the Methodist University School of Graduate Studies joined Wednesday, in celebration of Dr. Warren McDonald’s contributions to the University as Director of the Master of Business Administration program. McDonald is transitioning from the School of Business into the newly created School of Health Sciences as Director of the Healthcare Administration program. Dr. Jim Marcin has been named the new Director of the MBA program.
November 5 ,2012 Ed McEnroe '94 On the Unique Relationship Between PGA Tour Events and Local Charities Creating a blue chip experience for players, families and fans allows the organizers of PGA Tour tournaments to increase their impact to the local community through charitable contribution. This was the focus of Methodist University Alumnus, Ed McEnroe ’94, in an hour-long presentation Friday, as part of the Reeves School of Business’ Executive Speaker Series.
November 1,2012 Center for Entrepreneurship Honors Local Business People At last Thursday’s Economic Outlook Symposium, The Center for Entrepreneurship recognized the outstanding achievements of five entrepreneurs and business people from the Southeastern North Carolina area. Dr. Joel Naroff, a nationally recognized economic forecaster and policy consultant, delivered the keynote address.
October 30,2012 Chamber President Discusses Local Economic Pressures Key concerns for the Fayetteville/Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce continue to revolve around the community’s economic ties to the military and possible impacts of reduced defense spending. As part of the Reeves School of Business’ Executive Speaker Series, Chamber President and CEO, Doug Peters, discussed these concerns and how the Chamber is working with the community, local government, and the University to address them.
October 16,2012 Strickland Receives 2012 R.L. Sosnowski Award Dr. Pamela Strickland, Associate Professor of Accounting and advisor to the local chapter of Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business, has been recognized by the National Association with the 2012 R.L. Sosnowski Award for Outstanding Faculty Advisor of the Year. Reeves School of Business Dean, Joe Doll, presented Strickland with the award at a surprise ceremony attended by the Methodist University Faculty.
October 10,2012 Accounting Students Advance in National Competition A team of Reeves School of Business students has made it to the Semi-Final Round of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Accounting Competition. Each year, the competition asks teams of undergraduate students from across the USA and its territories to design solutions to current issues. This year’s task? Resolve the problems of the Deficit, Social Security, and the Federal Income Tax Code.

September 18, 2012 Advice to Students: “Convert Your Talents into a Business” The Reeves School of Business kicked off its Executive Speaker Series on Monday with Prof. Marty Cayton, Director of the Methodist University Center for Entrepreneurship, presenting “The Future of Entrepreneurship: The Millennials”. Before a large and attentive audience of students, faculty, and community members, Cayton outlined the opportunities he sees in entrepreneurship for the Millennial Generation.
September 6, 2012 Alumnus Chosen to Lead Top Club Andrew Madsen, a 2009 graduate of the PGA Golf Management program, was recently promoted to Head Golf Professional at Hidden Creek Golf Club, in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Hidden Creek is ranked the #13 private golf club in the United States by Golf Digest, mentioned in company with Augusta National, Pine Valley, and Oakmont.
September 4, 2012 Alumnus Joins the Cast of Golf Channel's Big Break Liam Friedman, a graduate of the PGA Golf Management program, was selected this summer to appear on Big Break- Golf Channel’s competition reality show. The series, filmed on location at Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV, will premier on Golf Channel October 2.
August 7, 2012 New Programs Debuting in the Reeves School of Business August 20 marks the first day of classes for Methodist University’s new and returning students and also the first day of two new academic programs in the Reeves School of Business. Entrepreneurship and Human Resource Management were approved at the conclusion of the Spring term and have already begun enrolling students. Both programs will offer a minor to students seeking any major at MU.
June 27, 2012 Marty Cayton to Direct the Center for Entrepreneurship The Reeves School of Business is proud to announce that Marty V. Cayton will become the second Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship on July 2. Cayton replaces Dr. Sid Guatam, who retired at the conclusion of the Spring semester.
May 30,2012 Trey Howell, class of 2010, will tee it up this week at the Rex Hospital Open at the TPC at Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, NC. Howell, a graduate of the PGA Golf Management program and currently a PGA Golf Professional at The Country Club of Landfall, in Wilmington, NC, advanced through Carolinas PGA qualifying to take one of three available spots in the tournament field. Howell will compete against the 156 of the Nationwide Tour’s best, including PGA Tour winners, May 31- June 3.
May 22, 2012 RSB Student Impacting Education in South Sudan When South Sudan gained independence in July of 2011, it immediately became one of the most impoverished countries in the world. A severely underdeveloped infrastructure and poor economy following several decades of civil war have left minimal educational and social resources for a country where 44% of the population is 14 years old or younger. Only 27% of South Sudanese can read and the vast majority live as subsistence farmers.
May 14,2012 Each year, the Sport Management Program conducts a charity event planned and conducted by students in Dr. Greg Combs’ SMA 322: Event Management class. This year’s event, conducted at the conclusion of the semester, supported The Wounded Warrior Project . “Run, Ride…Fight Gone Right” was held in Wade, NC and included cycling and running races as well as Crossfit challenges.
May 7,2012 May 5 marked the 49th Spring Commencement at Methodist University, and the 26th Commencement of Reeves School of Business graduates. The Reeves School of Business conferred one Associate of Arts, 47 Bachelors and 12 Master of Business Administration degrees at the ceremony in the March F. Riddle Center.
April 23, 2012 PTM Director Tom Daglis has been busy since taking the helm of one of Methodist University’s signature programs. April 20, 2012 For the 35th time, The Center for Entrepreneurship hosted the annual Stock Market Symposium and recognized local small business owners for their contributions to the community and the economy. For Dr. Sid Gautam, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, it was his last symposium as Director. Dr. Gautam will retire after serving as Director of the center since its founding in 1973.
April 20, 2012 Center for Entrepreneurship Honors Local Business People The Center for Entrepreneurship awarded five business men and women with distinguished honors at the 35th annual Stock Market Symposium. The event also featured an address by Mark Keller, CEO and Chief Investment Officer for Confluence Investment Management. The Symposium is one of several community events hosted by the Center for Entrepreneurship.
April 12, 2012 One student team in Michael Wayland's Business Policy and Strategy class placed in the all time top 20 in the world, in the business strategy simulation called MikesBikes. In this simulation, student teams from around the world run bicycle manufacturing companies. The students are either undergraduate seniors or first year MBA’s. They draw on their broad knowledge of business to make all the necessary decisions to compete against other bicycle firms. Each week in the simulation is equal to one year in the real world.

The 2012 presentation team included Manqoba Shabangu, Serge Iraguha, Phila Sifundza, Caleb Williams, Bei Bei Zhou, and the team advisor, Sam Walton Fellow, Michael Wayland.

He specializes in International Political Economics, the intersection of political science, geography, and economics.
January 24, 2012 Devin Beck, a Reeves School of Business graduate, is riding his bicycle from St. Augustine, FL to San Diego, CA to raise money for an Executives Without Borders relief project in Haiti. Devin graduated from Methodist University in 2010 with a degree in Business Administration and a Concentration in PGA Golf Management.
