Sport Management

Program Description

Behind the players, the games, and the screaming fans, there is an infrastructure in place to ensure the games continue. Sport is big business, and as in all businesses, managers, accountants, marketing and advertising professionals, sales people, and many others are needed to keep everything running.

The Business Sport Management major is designed to prepare students for entry level management positions related to sport and entertainment. Students who choose a major in Business Sport Management are qualified for entry level management positions in marketing and sales for professional and minor league sport teams, sales and management for sporting goods companies, event management and marketing for sport facilities and arenas. Previous Business Sport Management majors have completed internships and gained employment with organizations such as the New Orleans Saints and Washington Redskins (NFL), Fayetteville Fire Antz (semi-professional hockey), the Fayetteville Swamp Dogs (minor league baseball), Fayetteville Guard (arena football), New York Mets, Washington Nationals and Florida Marlins (MLB), Dartfish USA, Cheer Limited, Fayetteville Area Sports Authority, New England Sports Network, Special Olympics, USA Baseball, Hall of Fame Productions, North Carolina State Games and Wounded Warrior Project.
